Do you want to do something on your property to conserve, restore or enhance the watershed and environment? Did you know that funding is available to assist with this? The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority’s Clean Water-Healthy Land Financial Assistance Program offers environmental technical assistance, tools and information to residents, businesses, schools and service clubs within the Ganaraska watershed.
The GRCA can also assist farmers in undertaking beneficial projects on farm properties through the Clean Water-Healthy Land Financial Assistance Program. This funding program is offered within the Municipality of Clarington, the Municipality of Port Hope, and the Township of Hamilton, and can be combined with other opportunities, such as those through Ducks Unlimited, the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association and the Eastern Central Farm Stewardship Collaborative.
“Projects such as livestock fencing and alternate watering sources, conservation tillage equipment and tree planting are eligible through the Clean Water – Healthy Land Financial Assistance Program” said Kelly Gibson, GRCA Interim Stewardship Technician, “The GRCA looks forward to working with farmers, property owners and community groups on environmental initiatives. Please ensure to contact the GRCA prior to starting a project to find out how we can assist.”
The GRCA can support applicants by providing technical advice. Those residents who do not require financial assistance or those who are outside of the program area may still approach the GRCA for assistance on stewardship. Sometimes a helping hand is all that is needed to implement an environmental project.
