The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority issued a Flood Advisory on November 28th due to forecasted significant rainfall coupled with saturated watershed conditions. Rainfall totals were approximately 30mm across the GRCA watersheds causing high flows in local streams and rivers. No flooding has been reported at this time.
While streams are currently flowing high, there is no significant rain in the forecast and so stream flows will decline over the next couple of days. Soil conditions remain saturated and stream banks are slippery and dangerous. The GRCA is advising watershed residents to use extreme caution around all bodies of water and stay well back of stream banks and flowing water. Please alert any children in your care of these dangers.
The Conservation Authority will continue to monitor local conditions and provide updates as conditions warrant. This Flood Safety Bulletin will be in effect through Thursday, December 1st. For further information, please contact the following GRCA staff at 905-885-8173 during regular business hours or the Flood Duty Officer at 905-373-2038 or 289-251-2094 (after normal business hours). If you notice a potential flooding hazard please contact the Flood Duty Officer.
