Over 16,000 Trees Planted
Over 16,000 Trees Planted - click to enlarge

The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority had a very successful 2011 tree planting season, with over 16,000 tree seedlings being planted throughout local watersheds. These seedlings will eventually grow to be large trees that will provide many benefits to the environment such as increased wildlife habitat, increased stream bank stability and shading, and future timber resources.

The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority would like to acknowledge and extend a thank you to the Port Hope High School Manufacturing Technology class for rebuilding the Fesco Tree Planter. This tree planter is used to mechanically plant tree seedlings behind a tractor. With a brand new coat of paint and plenty of grease, this tree planter will be used for years to come in effort to increase tree cover throughout local watersheds.
