The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority (GRCA) is pleased to announce that the Ganaraska River, Wilmot Creek, Graham Creek, and Lovekin Creek, Bouchette Point Creek, and Port Granby Creek Watershed Plans are being finalized in 2009.
“The purpose of this initiative is to develop four separate plans that will create a framework to guide the conservation, management, rehabilitation, and enhancement of the six watersheds and their resources.” states Pam Lancaster, Stewardship Technician at the Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority
This process is also required under the provincial Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Act and Plan. The areas of planning include groundwater and surface water quantity and quality, aquatic and terrestrial habitats and resources, public health and wellbeing, and community heritage.
The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority is inviting participation into the planning process through a series of public open houses. Learn what issues and opportunities exist in each watershed and what types of management actions can be recommended to conserve and enhance our local environment.
