LOCAL CONSERVATION AUTHORITY LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE
The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority is pleased to announce that their newly developed website is now live and would like to welcome the public to view it.
The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority (GRCA) is a corporate body which was established in October of 1946 under the Conservation Authorities Act, proceeding the 1944 ‘A Report on the Ganaraska Watershed’ authored by pioneering Ontario Conservationist, A.H. Richardson, to further the conservation, restoration, development and management of renewable natural resources. The GRCA works in partnership with its member municipalities and the Province to provide a number of cooperative programs designed to conserve the land and water for future; to ensure that Ontario's rivers, lakes and streams are properly safeguarded, managed and restored; to protect, manage, and restore Ontario's woodlands, wetlands and natural habitat; to develop and maintain programs that will protect life and property from natural hazards such as flooding and erosion; and to provide opportunities for the public to enjoy, learn from and respect Ontario's natural environment.
“The new Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority website is a key tool for us in providing the public with information on the importance of conserving our natural resources for future generations. The easy to navigate website gives insight to the many services, programs and projects that we undertake as an Authority”, states Linda Laliberte, CAO/Secretary-Treasurer of the GRCA.
The new website also provides information about the Ganaraska Forest Centre (GFC), the Authority’s new outdoor education centre located on Cold Springs Camp Road north of County Road 9. The Centre is also home to the Oak Ridges Moraine Information Centre, serving as a connection point and local information hub for the residents and municipalities of the Oak Ridges Moraine. The GFC offers programs and facility usage for a multitude of groups as well as being host to year round public events ranging from Maple Syrup Day to Holiday Nature Crafts; please visit www.grca.on.ca for further information.
