The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority (GRCA) is pleased to announce that there has been a Daylily named after the Ganaraska Forest, appropriately called the Ganaraska Glory.

‘We’re in the Hayfield Now Daylily Gardens’ out of Orono have named a beautiful 5 ½” yellow daylily in honour of the Ganaraska Forest and the Building for Change campaign.  Each fragrant flower is ruffled with a green throat, sporting 17 buds on 2-way branching, and is sure to make a stunning display in anyone’s garden.

With each $35 daylily sold a $10 donation will be made to the Building for Change campaign. “We are honoured to have a daylily named after the Ganaraska Forest and grateful to those who support this worthy project.  The redeveloped Ganaraska Forest Centre is going to be a great place for everyone. The new facility will enhance the visitor’s experience and allow the Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority to continue with the legacy of outdoor education,” states Linda Laliberte, CAO/Secretary-Treasurer of the GRCA.

The Ganaraska Forest Centre is an outdoor education facility, located in the midst of a magnificent backdrop of the Ganaraska Forest. Thousands of students and guests of all ages visit the Forest Centre to experience the great outdoors and gain education about environmental conservation.  The new centre, which has its grand opening in September 2009, will be a multi-use facility for outdoor education programs, community and corporate group rentals and special events, as well as serving as the new home of the Oak Ridges Moraine Information Centre.
